What is a master post?

StoryChief uses the concept of a "master" post with "child" social posts per specific channel. The intended use is that the master post serves as a base for all your social posts. These posts can then be further tailored to their respective audiences.

Why tailor your post?

Tailoring your post per channel provides you with a unique way to engage with the types of audiences you have per platform.

For example:

  • Your Facebook audience might want something more lighthearted compared to your LinkedIn audience who need more of a business angle.

  • Add hashtags or tag businesses per social media channel to make your post more personalized. (more info)

  • Add an emoji depending on the social media platform.

❌ Limitations: Be aware that per platform there are different rules. For example, Twitter has a limit of 140 characters.

Start creating your social post

How to create a master message

Step 1. Create your default message in the master post. Add a message, blog post, set images, links or a video. Learn more.

Tailor your social post

Step 2. Scroll down to start tailoring your post per channel.

πŸ”” Note: If you've tailored your post, it will be highlighted in blue (ie. see the post for Facebook below)

Step 3. If you are attaching an image to the master post, you can customize the image per social channel by clicking replace and selecting a new image.

πŸ’‘ Tip: In case you want to revert the tailored post message and date back to the master message, click on the three dots in the top right corner of your tailored message. Then, click on 'Revert all changes'.

Or, if you only want to revert the tailored post message back to the master post, go to the top right corner of the tailored message. A blue dot will appear and if you click on the blue dot, a pop-up will appear asking if you want to 'Revert changes'.

πŸ”” Note: Once you have tailored a specific channel, changes made to the master post will not be applied to the tailored posts anymore. The tailored message on a channel will always have priority over the master post and thus if you want to make any general changes, you need to make them on each tailored post too.
