Value Added Tax, or VAT, is charged based on the region of your business.
Will I be charged VAT?
Depending on where you're based, there are different cases for VAT charges.
When you're not charged VAT:
You're a company in the VAT area of the European Union (except for Belgium).
Our system will ask you to submit your VAT number to waive the VAT charge for companies inside of the CAT area of the EU.
You're a company outside of the VAT area of the European Union.
Companies based outside of the European Union VAT area are not charged any VAT.
When are you charged VAT:
You're a company in Belgium.
Within Belgium, StoryChief charges 21% VAT. If you're a VAT registered company, you can claim it back from the government in your quarterly VAT return.
Don't have a VAT number?
When you are based inside of the VAT area of the European Union, StoryChief requires you to enter a VAT number. These are validated against VIES (VAT Information Exchange System).
