Create content straight from your ChatGPT conversations by enabling the StoryChief MCP server. Additional benefits are easy content creation on the go and even through voice commands!
In this guide, weβll walk you through the steps to get it set up quickly and securely.
β Limitations: Full support for MCP is currently in beta in ChatGPT. At the moment, it's only available in Developer mode for Pro and Plus accounts on the web.
βοΈ Although setting this up on a free plan seems to work, the MCP server isn't actually added.
In this article:
1. Start setting up StoryChief MCP in ChatGPT
Step 1. Enable "developer mode" on ChatGPT by going to Settings > Apps > Advanced settings (link). Enable the toggle.
Step 2. Create a new app by going to Settings > Apps (link) and clicking the "Create App" button.
Step 3. Enter the MCP Server information:
Icon (optional): StoryChief logo (π Public link)
Name: StoryChief
Description (optional): StoryChief
MCP Server URL: https://mcp.storychief.io/mcp
Authentication: OAuth
OAuth Client ID (optional) -> Leave empty
OAuth Client Secret (Optional) -> Leave empty
Then, check the "I trust this application" checkbox and click the "Create" button.
π‘ Note: To connect multiple workspaces, create a separate app for each. Give each app a clear name.

Step 4. You will be redirected to a StoryChief authorization screen.
Here, select the workspace to give access to and press "Authorize".
Step 5. When starting a new chat, enable StoryChief by selecting "+" β "More" β "StoryChief".

2. Usage (Limitations, tips & tricks)
a. Limitations
β Media generated by any AI chat is private media, so there isn't a public URL available to use this media when pushing media to StoryChief.
π Workaround 1 for ChatGPT: Download the generated media and manually upload it to the social post in StoryChief.
π Workaround 2 for ChatGPT: Use a different MCP/connector to upload the image to a DAM and use this public link in the content. (β οΈ Most DAMs don't have upload access yet in AI chats)
