Enabling two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your StoryChief account. Whenever you log into your account, after entering your username and password, you'll be asked for a second authentication code.

Two-factor authentication requires you to install an Authenticator application (e.g. Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).

πŸ”” Note: If you use the Google login, 2FA settings will not be visible. Yet, you can still set up 2FA in your Google account.

Watch our Academy video πŸ“Ή on Managing User Settings for a step-by-step guide:

In this article:

Set up two-factor authentication

1. Enable 2FA for your profile

Step 1. Click on your name at the top right of your dashboard and then click on Your Profile.

Step 2. Click on Security settings and confirm your password.

Step 3. Click on Enable Two-Factor

Step 4. Open Google Authenticator on your phone and scan the QR code. Google Authenticator will display a 6 digit code. Enter this code and click Confirm.

πŸ’‘ Tip: If you lose your phone, there's a possibility you could get locked out of your account. Copy and save the one-time recovery codes in a safe place, so you can use it later if you're not able to log in with your phone.

2. Disabling Two-Factor Authentication

To disable 2FA in your account, go to your Profile and then Security Settings πŸ‘‰ Quick link.

After filling in the password, you can disable the two-factor authentication.

This is also the place where you can find the Recovery Codes in case your device with the authentication app is lost.

3. Enforce 2FA for the whole workspace

Step 1. As workspace owner, go to the user overview. Here, enable the Two-Factor Authentication toggle.

Step 2. Users that didn't have 2FA enabled yet will receive an email to log in and resolve this.
