Add first comments to social posts

First comment scheduling is a small feature with a big algorithmic and workflow impact.

With social media taking up a big part of content marketing, feeds have become crowded, and algorithms now tend to reward authenticity over pure promotion.

Platforms need to strike a balance: posts should feel clean and human, but brands and creators still need to add their promotional links, hashtags and mentions across. Putting those in a first comment keeps the main post readable while still supporting discoverability and tracking.

It also gives a boost to early engagement. A post that goes live with a comment already attached looks active from the start, encouraging interaction and wider distribution.

Start adding first comments to your social posts

Step 1. Go to social posts > Create a social post

Step 2. Navigate to the Tailor by channel section

Step 3. Enable the slide Add first comment at the bottom of each postset, and write your first comment right in the box.

Step 4. Publish or schedule the social post as usual, and this comment will automatically added as a first comment once published.

πŸ”” Notes:

  • Adding a first comment is only available on:

    • LinkedIn Pages

    • Facebook Pages

    • Instagram

  • Mentions in comments are possible for Instagram & Facebook, if provided the correct page slug (ie. @story_chief)

  • LinkedIn API's does not support adding mentions to first comments
