Customizing the preview of links and articles

Instructions on customizing previews of links on social media platforms

When you're sharing a link or a StoryChief article to your social media accounts, you might want to customize the preview of it, either because the current preview image is not attractive enough for social media, or because there isn't any preview image showing.

Start customizing the previews

1. Customize article & link previews

The process of customizing a link or an article preview is easy.

Step 1: Create a social post and attach a link or article to it. You'll notice that a preview appears:

Step 2: Hover over the preview of the master post and click on Modify preview. A sidebar will appear:

πŸ”” Note: You can do the same thing over each individual post if you only want to customize a single channel. To do this, scroll down to the 'Tailor by channel' section and hover over the specific image to find the 'modify preview' button as explained above.

Step 3: Fill in the image, title and/or description and click save.

a. Facebook Page

Facebook requires you to validate the domain of the link you want to share before you can change it. Read how to validate your domain here. For article attachments, you can also use your StoryChief share domain to do this.

Facebook lets you customize the title, description and image of the preview.

b. Instagram

When sharing a link or an article to Instagram, you are only sharing its image since links aren't supported by Instagram. The image is fully customizable.

c. LinkedIn Company & LinkedIn Profile

LinkedIn lets you customize the image and title of the link/article.

c. X (Twitter)

For article attachments, you can use the StoryChief share domain.
Regular Links can not be tailored.

d. Pinterest

Pinterest lets you customize the image and title of the link/article.

e. Google Business Profile

Google Business lets you customize the image and title of the link/article.

f. Slack

You can customize the image, title and description on Slack using your StoryChief share domain.

g. Google My Business

GMB lets you customize the image of the post.

h. Threads

For article attachments, you can use the StoryChief share domain.
Regular Links can not be tailored.

i. Bluesky

Bluesky lets you customize the image and title of the link/article.
