If you start a new workspace on StoryChief, it can be very useful to import articles into the platform so they can be managed and updated. Our development team created a plugin for this.

The plugin can only be used once when installed. If you would like to redo the import, you will have to reinstall the plugin.

⚠️ Caution: This plugin is created and works as intended, but was meant to be used for internal use only. It is not a finished end-product but can be used by our clients.

Start importing your articles into StoryChief

Step 1. Download the Zip folder from GitHub πŸ‘‰ Link.

Step 2. Add a new plugin in WordPress and click "Upload plugin". Here you can upload the zip file.

πŸ’‘ Tip: Sometimes installing by upload returns a fatal error upon activation. Installing through FTP reduces the changes for an error.

Step 3. Go to 'DOMAIN/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=storychief-migrate' and leave this open for now.

Step 4. Go into StoryChief, and create a new API key (https://app.storychief.io/dashboard/account/api) with a name e.g. WordPress Migrate.

Step 5. Paste this key in the settings page on WordPress (see step 3), click 'Next' and choose the destination.

Step 6. Run the migration and leave the tab open so the plugin keeps running.

So for published articles, the status in StoryChief will also be updated to 'Published'.

For draft or custom statuses, the StoryChief status will be 'Draft'.

πŸ”” Note: For sticky notes inside of WordPress, duplicates can be created.

πŸŽ‰ You're done, grab a coffee, you deserve it!
