Step-by-step guide for linking your Atlassian account to bring Jira, Confluence, and Compass data into StoryChief.
Connecting Atlassian gives you access to project, documentation, and component data directly inside StoryChief. Once linked, StoryChief can draw on Jira issues, Confluence pages, and Compass service data to support more context-aware content planning and creation.
🔔 Note: You'll need to have completed the following before starting:
An active Atlassian account (Jira, Confluence, or Compass) with admin access
Admin access to your StoryChief workspace
Your Atlassian organization must whitelist StoryChief's OAuth callback URLs before connecting (see Atlassian MCP getting started guide)

1. Whitelist StoryChief callback URLs in Atlassian
Before connecting, your Atlassian organization needs to authorize StoryChief's OAuth callback. This is a one-time admin step.
Step 1. Log in to your Atlassian admin console at admin.atlassian.com.
Step 2. Navigate to your organization's Security settings and open the Allowed OAuth callbacks or equivalent allowlist section.
Step 3. Add the StoryChief OAuth callback URL to the allowlist and save.
🔔 Note: For the exact callback URL and detailed instructions, refer to the Atlassian MCP getting started guide. This step requires Atlassian organization admin access.
2. Connect Atlassian in StoryChief
Step 1. In StoryChief, navigate to Strategy and open the Plugins & Skills section in the left sidebar.
Step 2. Search for Atlassian in the list and select it to open the connection panel.
Step 3. Click Install to be forwarded to the Atlassian OAuth screen.
Step 4. Log in to your Atlassian account and click Accept to authorize the StoryChief MCP connection.
Step 5. You'll be redirected back to StoryChief. Verify that Jira, Confluence, and Compass appear as connected services in the plugin panel.
💡 Tip: If the redirect fails or you land on an error page, confirm the callback URL whitelisting in Step 1 is complete. This is the most common cause of OAuth failures with Atlassian.
