SEO keeps on being important to rank higher in search engines. By automating keyphrase and competitor research, you only write content that performs and publishes faster. All in one streamlined platform. ๐Ÿš€

In this help article:

โ“What is AI keyword research? AI algorithms analyze online data quickly and accurately to generate comprehensive keyword lists with metrics and analytics. In other words, the Power Mode compares your keyphrase to relevant Google searches and provides you with a keyword list to optimize your text.

1. What is a keyword?

A (focus) keyword or a sequence of keywords represents the essence of your page or post. It's the search query you aim to rank for with that specific content. This way, when users search for that keyword on Google or other search engines, they can locate the relevant page on your website.

Think of it as a line of words that summarises what your article is about. If you're writing about tips and tricks about preparing for a marathon, for instance, then "marathon" would not be a great keyword, while "marathon preparation" would be better, and "tips to optimise your marathon preparation" would be better still.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Why use a good keyword(s)?
It is used in search engine optimization (SEO) to help search engines understand what the content is about and rank it accordingly in search results. Keywords are important for targeting specific audiences and improving organic visibility online.

How to create an amazing sequence of keywords?

If your focus keyword is something very broad, the results will be very broad too. That means that a lot of them might not even be relevant to your articles.
Alternatively, if you create very specific keyword(s), the results will be very suitable for your article.

Example:

  • Broad keyword: "Marathon"

  • Specific sequence of keywords: "tips to optimise your marathon preparation"

You see below that the results are very different and that the second one will score better for the audience you have in mind. This will also show in the SEO score and ranking.

2. Start using AI to improve keywords in your articles

Step 1. Create an article as usual and choose when to use the Content gap feature.

Either start with throwing your inspiration on the blank page to finetune with keywords later, or start with your keyphrase and gain inspiration from the suggested keywords!

Step 2. Open the "Content Gap" sidebar. Here you can track how many relevant keywords are being used in your article.

Step 3. Insert a keyword or sequence of keywords for this specific article. This is probably the most important step since the quality of the keyword(s) influences the quality of the suggested keywords. Read more about how to use amazing keywords:

The AI will analyze how much competitive potential the focus keyword has. Before suggesting topics, an automated AI process categorizes top Google search result URLs (articles, company web pages, e-commerce, socials, definitions, or others). The percentage of articles is then used to classify results:

  • Bad (<60%),

  • Medium (60-80%),

  • Good (>80%).

This visual representation informs about competition levels for a focus keyword, and if it's better to change towards a more competitive one. The added link brings you to the search engine results for this keyword.

Step 4. Click on "Identify Gap" in the Content gap insights window.

We analyze your ranking against competitors by using real-time data, what keywords they use that you donโ€™t, and how you can improve your SEO rankings with the right keywords.

Step 5. Optimize your copy with the suggested keywords.

When adding some (or all) of the keywords, you'll notice that the SEO score also improves.

3. Refresh the recommended keywords

When creating articles with the Content Gap tool, the suggestions are freshly generated and relevant. Unfortunately, search engines quickly change and this leads to content decay.

To counter this, the recommendation tool includes the generation date and can be refreshed every 7 days. After 7 days, the date turns orange to indicate that the suggested keywords are outdated.

Step 1. Go to the article you like to update and click on "Content Gap". Here, you'll see the old keyword list.

Step 2. Click on the refresh button to generate the new list. This will counter the content decay.
