How to use Content Templates

Save and reuse your best-performing content structures across articles and content items.

Written by Victor

Every team has content formats that work. Instead of rebuilding them from scratch each time, Content Templates let you save any article or content item as a reusable starting point — complete with title structure, body content, custom fields, categories, tags, keywords, and featured image data. Open a new draft, pick a template, and your team hits the ground running.

In this article

1. Save content as a template

Once you have created an article or any other content type, you can save it as a template from two places: the content overview or directly from inside the editor.

❌ Limitation: Private content cannot be saved as a template. The "Save as template" option will not appear for private articles or content items.

A. From the content overview

Step 1. Go to your Articles overview (or the relevant content type overview).

Step 2. Find the content item you want to save. Click the overflow menu (the three-dot icon) next to it.

Step 3. Click "Save as template".

Step 4. Enter a name for your template in the dialog and confirm.

Choose a descriptive name that signals the format or use case. For example, "Monthly Newsletter Recap" or "Product Launch Article". This is what your team will see in the editor.

B. From inside the editor

Step 1. Open an existing article or content item.

Step 2. Click the overflow menu in the top-right of the editor toolbar.

Step 3. Click "Save as template", enter a name, and confirm.

2. Apply a template to a new draft

When creating a new draft, you will see your available templates directly in the empty editor, so you can start a new draft from a template right away.

Step 1. Create a new article or content item. The empty editor placeholder appears.

Step 2. You'll see three options: "Start from scratch", "Write with AI", and any matching templates saved for that content type.

Step 3. Click the template you want to apply.

Step 4. The draft is pre-filled with the template's data: title, body, custom fields, categories, tags, keywords, and featured image. Review and edit from there.

3. Manage your templates

All templates are managed from Settings > Content > Templates.

Step 1. Click your workspace name or avatar to open the menu, then go to Settings.

Step 2. Navigate to Content > Templates.

Step 3. The Templates page lists all saved templates with their content type displayed.

From here you can:

  • Rename a template by clicking its name or the rename action in the row menu

  • Delete a template using the row menu

Limitation: Templates are workspace-specific. They are not shared across workspaces.

🎉 Congratulations! Your template is saved and ready to use, so your team can now start every new piece of content from a solid, consistent foundation.
